Nicky Lu

As chief executive, researcher, design architect, and entrepreneur, Dr Lu has dedicated his career to the worldwide IC design and semiconductor industry. He is the Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Etron Technology, Inc., a leading fabless IC design and product company based in Taiwan and listed since 1998. He has also co-founded several other high-tech companies, including Ardentec and Global Unichip Corporation, both publicly listed.

Dr Lu is a global industry leader. He serves as Managing Board Director of the Taiwan Semiconductor Industry Association (TSIA) and the Association of Allied Industries in the Hsinchu Science Park, respectively. He also served as Chairman of the Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA, the former FSA), and continues to sit on the GSA's Board of Directors and acts as Chairman of the Asia-Pacific Leadership Council.

He received his B.S. from National Taiwan University in 1975 and M.S. and Ph.D. from Stanford University in 1978 and 1981, respectively. Dr Lu worked for the IBM Research Division and then the HQ from 1982 to 1990 and won numerous IBM recognition awards, including an IBM Corporate Award. He holds over 24 U.S. patents and has published more than 50 technical papers. Dr Lu was elected to be a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), was awarded the IEEE Solid State Circuits Field Award, and is a Member of National Academy of Engineering of USA.

For his services as a co-architect leading the 8-inch wafer and DRAM technology developments for Taiwan’s semiconductor industry in early 1990s, the Premier of the Republic of China, Taiwan awarded Dr Lu the National Medal of Excellence in Science and Technology. He was named "'Outstanding Entrepreneur' of R.O.C." by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and was presented with the "Golden Merchant Award" by the General Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of China. He is a fellow of the Chinese Society for Management of Technology and was honoured with the "2010 ERSO Award" by Pan Wen Yuan Foundation for his contribution to the Memory IC Design Industry. He was named an outstanding alumnus of the Department of Electrical Engineering, National Taiwan University, and a chair professor and an outstanding alumnus of the National Chiao Tung University.

Teo Cheng Kwee

Mr Teo founded and serves as Chairman of D3 Capital, a boutique private equity and investment consulting firm based in Singapore. D3 has investments in the natural resources, forestry, and real estate sectors, including in Myanmar, and previously had successful exits from metals and mining as well. D3 has advised numerous companies on fund-raising activities including IPOs, rights issues, private placements, and debt offerings.

Mr Teo is also the founder, former CEO and current Non-Executive Director of Sapphire Corporation, a Singapore mainboard listed company. As the leader of Sapphire for nearly three decades, he charted the corporate direction and strategy of the Group in the property and construction, metals and mining, and other sectors in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, China, and other markets.

Recently, Mr Teo invested in and led the listing of China Vanadium Titano-Magnetite Mining Company Limited, China’s first iron ore company listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (CVTM, 00893.HK). He also assisted in the listing of China Polymetallic Mining Limited (CPM, 02133.HK), a pure mining company participating in the exploration, mining and processing of non-ferrous metals, such as lead, zinc, silver and copper.

Mr Teo is a passionate entrepreneur and in addition to leading D3 Capital, he serves as founder and Chairman of South China Foresty Group, which focuses on sustainable Eucalyptus forestry plantations with its unique, proprietary fast-growing technology. Since 2007, SCF has been developing a 9,000 acre plantation in China which is being harvested. SCF is currently developing plantations in Myanmar, Malaysia, and Indonesia as well.
